April in Andelfingen

Naenae is still 2.

And I wouldn't trade it for anything because she is smart and beautiful and figuring out the world and how she will rule it.

We've been working on being good listeners, and every time I say "Be a good listener" Naenae says "Soon sister". Yes, when you say this out loud they sound similar. It's cute... but only so many times. Her listening skills come from her father, I'm sure of it.

Naenae is very excited about being a big sister. She says "Soon sister, baby sit knee, round and round." This means that she will soon be a sister, the baby is going to sit on her knee, and she's gonna sing Wheels on the Bus to the baby.

Naenae has been having trouble with her sleep again, but I have been soaking up every moment I can when she comes into my bed and wants to sleep all cuddled into me, her arm around my neck, her nose touching mine. Soon I will have another little one that will need to nurse and Naenae may have to give up her spot, at least part time.

Right now I am the walking billboard for abstinence. Teens that may be contemplating having sex just need to look at me and think about their bodies contorting like this and the answer will be "NO, NO, NO."

I am fat and waddly and impatient. Babe's head is down and I swear he is doing head spins in there. It is like having a cantaloupe in your pelvis that spins and grinds into your spine. No one feels sexy like this. Not even in heels... especially not in heels!

Ru asks me approximately every 10 minutes if I'm having the baby now. And I try to use my laser beam eyes on him but I think pregnancy has short circuited them or something because his head is still in tact. I'm thinking of giving birth while he is at work just to spite him.

I say this but in reality I will go into labour and need my hubby more than anyone else. As much as we bicker we can't live without each other (I need him as my rock and he needs me to feed him!).

Our garden is in, no thanks to me. Ru has been the garden warrior this Spring. He dug up sod and made the garden bigger, turned the soil, picked the stones and planted the first batch of seeds. I've been very impressed with his new found enthusiasm for gardening. He even bought rubber boots! Size 13 rubber boots make a statement when worn. They say "Don't mess with me, I garden!".

As beginner gardeners, and a different climate then Canada, we were a little lost as to when things should be planted and such. We have however figured out a genius way of having a great garden. Whenever our neighbours go out to their garden, we go to ours. Then ask a question like "So, whacha doin'?". Or we just wait until their kids join Ru in the garden. Usually 4 of the 5 kids, ages between 3 and 9, join him. They think he's cool and like helping when he's in the garden. They often help and offer advice on how their parents do it. We take this advice because they have awesome gardens!

Now we're just waiting for shoots to pop through the earth and give us hope that there will be veggies!

Naenae has taken to the garden as well. She dons her rubber boots and away she goes! One night I looked out and there was my Naenae, who doesn't like to get dirty, in the middle of the garden, alone, throwing dirt straight up in the air and letting it fall on her head. That's when I prefer having a dirty kid and more laundry!
